Antonio Serpini is a British born Italian and was born in Northampton on 2nd September 1965, although he has lived all his life in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, which is famous as the home of the “Code Breakers” of Bletchley Park during the Second World War. (You make well of heard of Alan Turing and the Enigma machine).
Antonio’s interests include: Architecture, Art, Cars, Cinema, Cooking, Modern History, Photography and Politics.
As a critic of the European Union and its bureaucracy, he is a committed remainer and very Anti-Brexit and believes we are stronger in Europe and that change comes from within.
The fact that Antonio Serpini was born in Northampton does sometimes irk him in an ironic and humorous way. (See story below)
As a complete petrol head and lover of all things automotive, especially classic cars Antonio was scheduled to be born at the Newport Pagnell maternity hospital, but when it was discovered that he was a breech birth (Legs first) he was sent to Northampton general hospital as in those days they used to specialise in these types of births.
So instead of being born where they build Aston Martin’s (Newport Pagnell) he was born here they make DOCTOR MARTINS!!! (Northampton) He would have been an early DB6 model.
As a child Antonio was totally besotted with watching films and from the age of 8 years old he had already decided that he wanted to be a filmmaker. Although Antonio was by his own admission a reluctant academic who could not learn anything that did not interest him. He was self-taught in photography (after being inspired by a cousin from Italy who was a military photographer) and would have passed any photography exam at his school had they taught it there.
Antonio left school aged 16 with no qualifications whatsoever, except a First Holy Communion certificate (Which as a confirmed atheist is totally useless) and a determination to become a filmmaker.
He also wanted to become a car designer, but lacked the talent and qualifications in every area required to become one.
Antonio takes his work and his professionalism very seriously, but realises that its not the most important job in the world, not like being a child surgeon or a nurse etc. and that having a good sense of humour, cherishing every day and being able to laugh at yourself and make people around you happy are the real riches of life.
Antonio is very proud of his Italian roots, but equally proud of being born in Great Britain and sees himself as a genuine 50/50 Anglo-Italian (Except when it comes to football)

“Tony brings a wide range of experience and insight to all his work, which means he adds value to any project. He can adapt to any style of filming or budget, and is always pragmatic. When involved in media training, he shares the perspective of camera and technical crew in a way that enables clients to gain a much deeper insight into the whole tv process; he is widely respected by my clients for his combination of technical skill and personal coaching.”
Rob Butler - former TV news anchor, communications advisor and media trainer
“I have worked with Tony Serpini for more than 30 years. He is an excellent film and video cameraman and producer. Tony is particularly good at adapting to all kinds and conditions and all kinds of clients. I would trust him with any programme I am
producing - in the UK or overseas.”
John Hemson - Cranfield Scientific Films
“I have had the pleasure of working with Tony on a host of different news stories, magazine stories and charity related films for more than 25 years. Not only is he a first-class cameraman and editor, he also has a unique ability to put people at their ease. It wouldn’t matter what situation you put him in, he would cope and more than that, he would thrive and at the end of the day everyone would leave in a good mood. He has a warm and generous personality which causes everyone he works with to like him. Doing the “bit extra” is his standard practice. His can-do attitude is infectious. I have no hesitation in recommending him. I have been in this business for 35 years and Tony is the best cameraman I ever worked with”
Sean Curtis-Ward, CEO Goodwork, former Head of Broadcasting at The Press Association and News Operations Manager for Worldwide Television News (WTN).
